Prototypes for SOMA Robotics Self Defense Robots. Location Specific AI/ML security robots designed to prevent or mitigate active shooter or other hostile actors actions. They are specifically designed to use non-lethal means like strobe high lumen lights controlled by a human on a mobile app, either on premise or via remote monitoring to lower the cost and increase the ability to protect people. It is actually an incredibly more complex problem than we originally imagined. The market demand is HUGE, but data to train the models is scarce, and you can't just accidentally hit someone with 5k lumens (the sun is 6K at high noon for perspective) with a false positive. I learned a lot, and even in the two years since the initial build, technology has changed so much I would design many elements differently. As is, given it was self funded, it's on hold. Investors welcome. We want our second amendment rights, AND we want our kids to be able to go to school and feel safe. In a perfect world the gun lobby and NRA would be eager to fund an alternative means of safety. I'm an inventor, not a politician or VC, so I can't answer that. Yet the problem of soft target vulnerabilities persists and this is a possible solution imho. - Ed Schipul |
